ARTIST STATEMENT
Not unlike Van Gogh*, I come alive when I am drawing; fixing in time on paper creatures, things, and places that evoke a response from my artistic attention. Sometimes the message is to shed light on the humor found in everyday objects. At other times I cast a subject matter into a whimsical scene, trying to share with the viewer the joy of living. Working with an unexpected medium, crayons, I delight in the drama of constructing new life from everyday subject matter. The mastery of drawing, composition, design, values and color open the door for my imagination to let loose and respond.
